9:37:13 PM Sam: im ready

9:38:11 PM Son Trinh: Ok let me officially welcome you to our inaugural chat session Sam

9:38:41 PM Sam: Let’s do it

9:38:44 PM Son Trinh: how does it feel to be a small part of something worthless yet is largely a time-filler for those brave souls who waste away in cubicles all day and need stuff to read at work?

9:39:29 PM Sam: Well I just wish I could read it at work too, but I’m paranoid about putting the word ‘boner’ into the address bar

9:40:00 PM Sam: but anyways, I’m glad we can help others waste their day

9:40:16 PM Son Trinh: I feel the same way, I wish I could also, but the US Government was kind enough to not give me a computer at my job.

9:41:11 PM Sam: I can’t believe the govt won’t overpay for a computer for you

9:41:38 PM Son Trinh: lol I can’t either, they’re willing to pay me 8 hours of work for 6 hours of physical presence

9:41:47 PM Sam: lol

9:42:05 PM Son Trinh: Alright let’s start off with some random thoughts, analysis, and then we’ll close up with picks for this weekend’s wild card matchups

9:42:29 PM Son Trinh: First of all, what are your overall thoughts of the 12 team field for the 2008 playoffs?

9:42:53 PM Son Trinh: remember 2007 was then….2008 is now! there is only ONE playoff

9:43:04 PM Sam: nice motto

9:43:12 PM Son Trinh: stole it from Mr. Cook :)

9:43:22 PM Sam: my first thought is that Cleveland choked away their chance bigtime

9:43:39 PM Sam: secondly, now it’s time for Norv to show how much he really sucks at coaching

9:43:52 PM Sam: and now its time for Todd Collins to come back to Earth

9:44:06 PM Sam: and show why he has been a backup for 10 years

9:44:22 PM Son Trinh: Ok lets address those real quick

9:45:06 PM Son Trinh: do you think Cleveland or its fans have any right, or persay do you sympathize with them in the fact that the Colts did not even show up to play, and their playoff hopes were riding on Jim Sorgi’s performance

9:45:21 PM Sam: I have no sympathy for Cleveland

9:45:42 PM Sam: they should have won their own games, then they wouldn’t have to rely on another time

9:45:44 PM Son Trinh: right, since they COULD have showed up week 16 vs. the Bengals right? the lowly Bengals as it is

9:45:54 PM Sam: yep

9:46:09 PM Sam: and we all knew Cincinatti would be pumped for that big rivalry

9:46:13 PM Sam: and chance to play spoiler

9:46:26 PM Son Trinh: agreed

9:47:00 PM Son Trinh: in that line of thought, Tennessee instead gets to go and match up against the Chargers… You mentioned that now we get to see Norv Turner in all his glory in the pressure cooker that is the playoffs

9:47:46 PM Son Trinh: comparing both teams, you have two solid Ds, two mediocre QBs, but the big difference is of course LaDainian Tomlinson…. so do you think he is enough? to make the Chargers a 10 point favorite?

9:48:02 PM Son Trinh: gun to your head would you allow your playoff hopes to rest with Turner or Jeff Fisher?

9:48:53 PM Son Trinh: Disclaimer: mediocre may be too strong a word for Vince Young this early in his career, but I really do think he took a step back in year 2. but of course I will not condemn his talents so soon.

9:49:06 PM Sam: I’ll give Norv credit for leading San Diego to a great turnaround after a dismal start

9:49:47 PM Sam: but his track record is not good. although interestingly, he does have a better playoff winning percentage than Marty

9:49:55 PM Sam: .500

9:50:04 PM Sam: but he’s only been 1-1

9:50:21 PM Sam: anyways

9:50:23 PM Son Trinh: hmm I didn’t know that. How much of that do you think it was Tomlinson putting the Chargers on his back, and Turner not getting in the way?

9:50:35 PM Sam: mediocre is a kind word for vince this year

9:50:39 PM Sam: but his team has won

9:52:33 PM Sam: I’ll give LT alot of credit for that

9:52:45 PM Sam: He got off to a slow start but he was going against some good defenses

9:52:56 PM Sam: New England, Chicago

9:53:10 PM Sam: although Chicago hasn’t been THAT great this year

9:53:20 PM Son Trinh: that is true, well Chicago’s D has been its only constant

9:53:41 PM Son Trinh: that and don’t forget he’s doing this without battering ram FB Lorenzo Neal

9:54:28 PM Son Trinh: Ok now for Todd Collins, I think he looked pretty good for a 10 year backup vet

9:54:48 PM Son Trinh: but I also am not sold on him, why do you think his roller coaster ride is on the down slope?

9:55:00 PM Sam: He has looked great

9:55:12 PM Sam: but you have to wonder how long he can keep it up

9:55:40 PM Sam: look at Eli in the last game of the season

9:56:07 PM Sam: He was playing great untl the end of the 3rd quarter when he threw a timely pick

9:56:12 PM Sam: (like he always does)

9:56:22 PM Sam: then we got to see that open-mouthed expression of his

9:56:27 PM Son Trinh: lol

9:56:42 PM Son Trinh: have you seen that Citizens commercial of his

9:56:54 PM Son Trinh: “Unstoppable…. Eli Manning is.”

9:57:09 PM Sam: “A joke..That was”

9:57:24 PM Son Trinh: first of all, I dont know when we got Yoda to do commercial narratives, but at this point don’t you have to feel sorry for him?

9:57:47 PM Son Trinh: being the dopey “Roger Clinton/Frank Stallone” to Peyton Manning?

9:58:11 PM Son Trinh: Manning has dumb silly commercials, but they are at least somewhat popular and with marquee companies

9:59:09 PM Sam: he has millions of $ to comfort him

9:59:17 PM Sam: Peyton has good commercials

9:59:29 PM Sam: and he may have been the best SNL host in recent memory

9:59:41 PM Son Trinh: even better than LeBron?

9:59:56 PM Sam: ok, I should say football players

9:59:59 PM Son Trinh: lol

10:00:00 PM Sam: he was better than Brady

10:00:10 PM Son Trinh: lol ok

10:00:44 PM Sam: although I’m not sure Joe Namath hasn’t hosted. Talk about some unintentional comedy

10:01:13 PM Son Trinh: lol well he’s sober now, so I dunno how much

10:01:18 PM Son Trinh: alright well nice transition there Sam, you addressed the Redskins, and the Giants, which is good because I want to lead into the Cowboys, because lets face it, we gave face time to the “other” teams

10:01:31 PM Son Trinh: but no one cares about them, just the Cowboys, Packers, Colts, and Patriots

10:01:43 PM Sam: lol..good point on Joe

10:02:19 PM Son Trinh: so now I have to tell you, I DO NOT want to see the Giants, or Redskins again in the playoffs… it was hard enough to beat the Giants twice in a row, I just dont know about the third time, the laws of probability have to come into play

10:02:55 PM Son Trinh: and although everyone is afraid of the Redskins, I still hope the Boys don’t see them, but I am confident the overlooked Seahawks could take care of them, thoughts?

10:03:50 PM Sam: The ’skins won’t make it past the second round

10:04:06 PM Sam: Todd Collins will come back to Earth, I’m telling you

10:04:22 PM Sam: but I still think the Cowboys beat the Giants again if necessary

10:04:32 PM Sam: TO ran roughshod over that secondary

10:04:56 PM Sam: Ross, Madison, he made them all look bad

10:05:05 PM Son Trinh: speaking of TO. You know I was not a fan of his showboating days in San Fran and Philly.. I was forced to watch him when he plays for my favorite team

10:05:29 PM Son Trinh: but thanks to you, (Sam also got me hooked on Kobe Black Mamba Bryant), I started to respect him

10:05:34 PM Son Trinh: and now I am a fan

10:05:53 PM Son Trinh: the guy hustles, he plays hard, he blocks, even if not well, he at least tries, he doesn’t take a play off.

10:06:03 PM Son Trinh: yet of course the controversy follows him

10:06:18 PM Son Trinh: now to me, the last big time Cowboys WR to draw such scrutiny was Michael Irvin

10:06:39 PM Son Trinh: the difference to me is, TO has more speed, power and talent IMO than Michael Irvin

10:06:46 PM Sam: glad to show you the light on TO and Kobe..like I say..neither has committed any crimes

10:07:06 PM Sam: TO and Kobe always play hard

10:07:09 PM Son Trinh: They both seem to have controversy follow them, but with Irvin you have THE MOST loyal teammate I have ever seen

10:07:15 PM Sam: and white women love them

10:07:21 PM Son Trinh: the guy would do anything for his teammates, he didn’t care who

10:07:30 PM Son Trinh: TO doesnt seem to emulate this, gimme your thoughts on his season so far

10:07:35 PM Sam: Do Eagle, Colorado and Nicolette Sheridan ring a bell to you?

10:07:51 PM Son Trinh: yes TO and Kobe always play hard, and lol the women do love ‘em (Colorado women especially)

10:08:13 PM Sam: I would say TO has more talent than Irvin

10:08:24 PM Sam: and he’s proven again this year that he is a touchdown machine

10:08:48 PM Sam: and his number of drops has gone down this year

10:09:00 PM Son Trinh: if TO was as fiercely loyal as Irvin, do you think his image would be relatively better?

10:09:30 PM Sam: probably

10:09:44 PM Sam: there’s no doubt that they both have superior work ethics

10:09:49 PM Son Trinh: no doubt

10:10:02 PM Sam: but Irvin did drugs and the public forgives that

10:10:26 PM Sam: TO ruined chemistry and is a ‘bad locker room guy’. For some reason the public doesn’t forgive that

10:10:29 PM Sam: go figure

10:10:43 PM Son Trinh: we have seen firsthand how important TO is to this offense, they aren’t ready to say he will be back for the divisional round, but do you think anything short of the Hand of God will keep TO from playing in the playoffs?

10:10:52 PM Son Trinh: or is this an repeat of the Eagles in 2005?

10:11:02 PM Sam: “We don’t care if you do cocaine with white women, just don’t screw up team chemistry..”

10:11:10 PM Son Trinh: lol good point about the drugs/locker room corollary

10:12:03 PM Sam: TO will be out there. I think this is a repeat

10:12:21 PM Sam: Honestly, the Cowboys will probably need him more than the Eagles did in ‘05

10:12:33 PM Son Trinh: well I meant repeat of 2005 Eagles in that he didn’t play until the Super Bowl

10:12:41 PM Son Trinh: I agree about their need for him

10:12:42 PM Sam: yep

10:13:03 PM Son Trinh: so you think he won’t play in the NFC divisional or conference (if it came to that)

10:13:19 PM Sam: We don’t really know if Glenn will be back at 100% after getting taken out at the knees in the Redskins game

10:13:38 PM Sam: No, I think he will play in the Divisional round

10:13:46 PM Son Trinh: ok

10:14:06 PM Son Trinh: let’s dedicate two lines to the Green Bay Packers

10:14:24 PM Sam: ok

10:14:28 PM Son Trinh: they might beat the Cowboys or anyone else to meet the AFC champs, but I don’t want them to. thats it.

10:14:32 PM Son Trinh: your thoughts?

10:14:36 PM Sam: I agree

10:14:38 PM Sam: AND

10:14:56 PM Sam: if Favre was fighting dogs, the media would probably call it hunting

10:15:08 PM Sam: they LOVE THAT GUY

10:15:20 PM Son Trinh: sneaky bastard, snuck in two extra lines and the race card lol

10:15:23 PM Son Trinh: but I agree

10:15:25 PM Sam: lol

10:15:34 PM Son Trinh: and since there are no white people in this chat, we get away with it

10:15:43 PM Son Trinh: though “the man” may shut down the site by next week

10:15:51 PM Sam: No ‘taboos’ here

10:15:56 PM Son Trinh: lol ok

10:16:05 PM Son Trinh: now to the varsity conference

10:16:14 PM Son Trinh: we really only care about Indy and NE

10:16:53 PM Son Trinh: I hope we get to see them both, somehow I would not be surprised if someone like Tennessee knocks off NE in a funny ironic paradox…but for ratings sake, I hope not

10:17:34 PM Sam: screw ratings..we don’t get a cut of the Ad money..what do you care?

10:18:20 PM Sam: i think Tennessee will pull off at least one upset, b/c VY

10:18:26 PM Sam: ‘just wins games’

10:18:45 PM Sam: but I think alot of people are overlooking Indy

10:18:56 PM Son Trinh: I care enough not to fall asleep by halftime of the SB like I have the last 2 years lol

10:19:18 PM Sam: remember, they were ahead of NE when they played before letting them off the hook

10:19:24 PM Sam: as Denny would say..

10:19:46 PM Sam: haha..well Prince actually didn’t suck so I was ok with it last year

10:20:22 PM Sam: This whole Janet Jackson thing has ruined halftime shows..they won’t get any relevant artists

10:20:31 PM Sam: Who’s performing this year?

10:21:11 PM Son Trinh: uhm I dunno? let me look it up

10:21:36 PM Sam: Britney Spears?

10:21:50 PM Son Trinh: found drunk when authorities came to take kids away

10:21:51 PM Sam: Is she out of the Psych Ward yet?

10:22:12 PM Son Trinh: Tom Petty

10:22:19 PM Son Trinh: love him….in 1970

10:22:39 PM Son Trinh: no Hannah Montana though, sorry Sam!

10:23:22 PM Sam: I don’t comment on any girls under 18

10:24:15 PM Sam: how old is she?

10:24:33 PM Son Trinh: LOL if you didn’t know, she MUST be legal

10:25:15 PM Son Trinh: actually we’ll just steer clear of that jailbait and just guarantee there will be no wardrobe malfunction with Tom Petty

10:26:09 PM Son Trinh: Ok I’d say this chat session went… well what you could hope for from two mid 20s minorities who don’t have the extensive media access like Bill Simmons or DJ Gallo

10:26:17 PM Sam: yeah, we don’t need any penis slips

10:26:29 PM Son Trinh: what say we wrap this up with your Super Bowl pick

10:26:35 PM Son Trinh: who is playing, and who wins?

10:35:50 PM Sam: Dallas vs NE

10:35:54 PM Sam: and Dallas wins

10:35:59 PM Sam: 81 vs 81

10:36:03 PM Sam: the rematch

10:36:11 PM Son Trinh: fair enough

10:36:15 PM Son Trinh: Dallas vs. Indy for me

10:36:27 PM Son Trinh: Dallas wins (geez I wonder who we like)

10:36:38 PM Son Trinh: 81 vs the Manning Face as Simmons would say

10:36:41 PM Sam: ha. is it that obvious?

10:37:32 PM Son Trinh: ok Sam, thank you for your time. thank you for holding back on those profuse cuss words you are so known for

10:37:43 PM Sam: lol

10:37:53 PM Son Trinh: and keeping this PG-rated for our target audience of 20-45 year olds

10:37:58 PM Sam: i tried to keep it clean

10:38:11 PM Sam: even though the site name has the word ‘boner’ in it

10:38:43 PM Son Trinh: obviously :)
